Books That I Liked

Last week, I was thinking that I needed to read more books that would help me creatively and light a fire up my you know where. I found this book called "Steal Like An Artist" by Austin Kleon. I loved it! He had a list of 10 points on how to get your creative juices going. I would highly recommend this book.

Go here for his website.

Yesterday I went to the David Zwirner Gallery in Chelsea and checked out an exhibition by a Chinese artist named Yan Pei-Ming. I was really inspired! He paints these huge monochromatic scenes that are quite electrifying.  I loved his loose brushwork and the use of color and the fact he only used one colour -either all red or all black. Very cool!

Soft Licorice

One of my favorite snacks that I like to eat, and fortunately I can buy here, is soft eating black licorice. American licorice is so different to what I am used to.

12 Things Successful People Do Differently

Adapted from marcandangel.com

Here is the link to the original posting. You can find it here. I am feeling I need a little, ( okay a lot), of help in getting back into my creative routine, again!

Successful people:

1. They create and pursue S.M.A.R.T. goals. Smart stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely.

2. They focus on being productive, not being busy.

3. They make logical, informed choices.

4. They take decisive and immediate action.

5. They avoid the trap of trying to make things perfect.

6. They work outside of their comfort zone.

7. They keep things simple.

8. They focus on making small, continuous improvements.

9. They measure and track their progress.

10. They maintain a positive outlook as they learn from their mistakes.

11. They spend time with the right people.

12. They maintain balance in their life.

Tim Tam

A Tim Tam biscuit is a chocolate covered malt biscuit covered in chocolate with a thin layer of chocolate in the middle. They taste almost airy and are delicious. There was a time when stores like Target (in the USA) were selling these and even my local supermarket!
